GEO Group, America's largest private prison company, falsified records on the morning a detainee died in solitary confinement at an ICE facility. Despite these findings, ICE declined to punish the facility and continued expanding its contracts with the company.
The Intercept reveals that staff at GEO Group's Moshannon Valley ICE Processing Center in Pennsylvania falsified records surrounding the death of Frankline Okpu, who died in solitary confinement on December 6, 2023. Federal inspectors found multiple violations of detention standards, yet ICE not only declined to penalize the facility but continued to award GEO Group additional contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
