Thune nudges Trump to "wrap up" Fed probe

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) is pressing the Trump administration to conclude the investigation into Kevin Warsh's confirmation as Fed chair. Thune stated on Tuesday that the sooner the administration can "wrap up this investigation," the better for everyone. Frustration is mounting within the Senate GOP conference over the perceived delay in confirming Warsh, whose term as Fed chair would begin after Jerome Powell's term expires on May 15. The nomination is caught in a standoff involving President Trump, Fed Chair Jerome Powell, and outgoing Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.). Tillis has stated he will not advance Warsh's nomination until the Department of Justice formally ends its investigation into Powell.
