House Democrats Move to Impeach Defense Secretary Hegseth

Democratic lawmakers on Wednesday introduced a resolution to impeach Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, accusing him of abuse of power and war crimes, among other allegations. The resolution, led by Democratic Rep. Yassamin Ansari of Arizona, includes six articles of impeachment, with the first accusing Hegseth of violating his oath of office over his role in an "unauthorized war against Iran." White House spokesperson Anna Kelly dismissed the effort as an "unserious act" by "backbencher Democrats" and praised Hegseth's leadership during "Operation Epic Fury." Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson also disparaged the resolution, stating it was an attempt to distract from the Department of War's success in achieving the President's objectives in Iran. The resolution has almost no chance of passing due to Republicans’ slim majority in the House.
