Pentagon’s AARO quietly held an invite-only workshop to help shape the future of UAP research

The Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) sponsored an invite-only workshop in early August 2025 where approximately 40 government, academic, and independent researchers met to standardize processes for capturing and analyzing UAP (unidentified anomalous phenomena) narrative data. The two-day event, hosted by Associated Universities Inc. in the Washington D.C. area, focused on integrating diverse UAP reports from military logs, pilot accounts, civilian testimony and social media that currently suffer from inconsistent formatting and terminology. The workshop produced recommendations for common reporting templates, AI-assisted pattern recognition, and automated filtering methods to identify the most promising cases for investigation. AARO published a 17-page whitepaper detailing the findings and indicated the results may influence how and where the military deploys its new sensor suite designed to detect and track UAP. Pentagon spokesperson Sue Gough said AARO hopes to convene similar workshops in the future but has no additional events to announce currently.
