AI-generated children's videos with dangerous or educationally incorrect content are flooding YouTube at industrial scale, with one creator posting over 10,000 videos in seven months compared to Sesame Street's 3,900 over two decades. A November 2025 Kapwing report found roughly 21 percent of YouTube's feed consists of low-quality AI videos, including examples like "Vroom Vroom! Car Ride Song"—which teaches that "green means right" and depicts unsafe car behavior—and videos showing toddlers eating choking hazards or toxic foods. Child development experts including Kathy Hirsh-Pasek at Temple University and Dana Suskind at the University of Chicago warn this "brain stunt" wires developing brains with incorrect neural connections, while digital media creator Carla Engelbrecht has documented videos containing physically harmful misinformation about literacy, numeracy, and safety. YouTube currently exempts animated content from mandatory AI-disclosure requirements and says it relies on quality principles and a child safety policy, though the platform has terminated at least two channels in response to reporting. Experts and industry figures are calling for clearer AI labeling, stronger platform responsibility, and parental awareness, though safer alternatives like Sensical and Meevee have struggled to compete with YouTube's reach.
