Labubu film is official with Paddington director at the helm

**Summary:** Chinese toy company Pop Mart and Sony Pictures announced a Labubu feature film in early development, to be directed by Paul King (Wonka, Paddington) and combining live action and computer-generated animation. The film will be executive produced by Labubu creator Kasing Lung, with Paul King also co-producing and developing the script alongside Steven Levenson (Dear Evan Hansen, Tick, Tick... Boom!). Labubu dolls, forest elves inspired by Nordic mythology created by Hong Kong artist Lung over a decade ago, have become a global sensation with sales helping Pop Mart reach a $40 billion valuation, surpassing Mattel. The announcement was made Wednesday in Paris during a global exhibition tour marking Labubu's 10th anniversary, with no release date yet set.
